Medical alert tags and stickers: product and wording guide

Lulu Labels medical alert tags and stickers display personalised information on belongings. They display information; they do not provide treatment or replace an individual care plan. Our medical alert tags and stickers can display selected details on bags and containers; visibility does not guarantee that an adult will notice or act on them. This is a guide to what the two products do, what goes on them and where each one belongs.

Tags clip on; stickers stick on

The Allergy Alert Tag and Medical Alert Tag are 5 cm tags that clip onto a school bag, a tog bag or a lunch bag. They are double-sided, providing space on both faces. Check the layout for legibility; colour and size do not establish emergency effectiveness.

The Allergy Alert Stickers and Medical Alert Stickers are 5 cm vinyl stickers for the things a tag cannot clip to: medicine containers, water bottles, lunch boxes, books, bags and stationery. Check the current pack quantities on the selected product page.

What goes on them

The product listings support a name, allergen or medical condition, contact information and preferred action. Agree any action wording with the treating healthcare professional and school, using the child’s current written plan. Do not copy a generic emergency instruction from a product guide or use a phone-call instruction as a substitute for the agreed response.

Keep the wording short and readable on a 5 cm item. Check spelling and contact details, and update or replace the tag or sticker when information changes. Display only information you are comfortable making visible to others.

Where the information should live

A tag can clip onto a bag; a sticker can attach to a suitable container or other belonging. Choose the position with the school or caregiver so they know where to look. Keep original medicine labels, dosage directions and expiry dates visible; an added sticker must not obscure or replace them.

Format Best suited to Limitation
5 cm double-sided tag Clipping information to a school, sports or lunch bag Information stays with the bag, not necessarily with the child
5 cm vinyl sticker Displaying information on a suitable container or belonging Needs enough space; must not obscure original safety or medicine information

Neither format guarantees that a responder will find or read the information.

Built for the lunch box

The sticker descriptions specify waterproof vinyl and microwave-, dishwasher- and freezer-safe properties. Follow the supplied instructions and the container’s own restrictions; these claims do not make a medicine, bottle or container suitable for heating or freezing. Keep stickers outside food containers and check regularly that the information remains readable.

A note on what these are for

A tag or sticker displays information but cannot ensure that someone sees it or responds correctly. This article provides product guidance, not medical advice. Keep the child’s healthcare-professional-approved plan, prescribed medication and school or caregiver arrangements in place. Check wording with the treating professional and keep the information current.

Ordering

Choose the format and check the personalisation fields and final wording before paying. The shipping policy allows five working days for manufacturing before collection or shipping; delivery takes additional time. Check current services and timing at checkout. For ordinary name labels rather than medical information, see our school label personalisation guide.
